    9. Emergency Rescue Visas
  • To satisfy the eligibility criteria for the Emergency Rescue Visa (Subclass 203) you must:
    • be the victim of persecution in your home country; and
    • be able to demonstrate a serious need to travel to Australia such as an immediate threat to your life or personal security.
  • You will generally need to be referred by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to receive this visa.
  • This visa is a permanent visa (it does not expire).
  • It allows you to live, work and study in Australia.
  • In addition people who hold this visa can propose or sponsor family members for permanent residency in Australia.
