  • If you are granted citizenship it means that you are officially an ‘Australian’.
  • Additional responsibilities will be imposed on you that are common to all Australians including serving on a jury if called to do so and voting in state and federal elections.
  • You will be able to apply for work for the Australian government, obtain an Australian passport, receive Consular help from Australia while overseas and register children born oversees as Australian citizens.
  • There are two different forms that can be used in applying for citizenship. The ‘General Eligibility’ form is for those who are 18-59 years old. The ‘Other Situations’ form is for those who are under 18, 60 or over or those in special circumstances.
