6. Save Haven Enterprise Visas

- Safe Haven Enterprise Visas were recently introduced as a new type of temporary protection visa that encourages refugees to work or study in regional areas of Australia.
- These visas are valid for 5 years.
- If you work or study in a regional area for at least 3.5 years of your visa and do not access income support for more than 1.5 years then you will be able to apply for a permanent visa but not a Permanent Protection Visa.
- The Safe Haven Enterprise Visa has the same benefits and restrictions as the Temporary Protection Visa.
- Information on how to apply for this visa is not yet available.
- The visa is expected to come into effect in April 2015.
- However you will still be able to apply for this visa when it comes into effect if you apply for the Temporary Protection Visa in the meantime.
