8. Humanitarian Visas

- Eligibility for the In-country Special Humanitarian Programme Visa (Subclass 201) requires that you are:
- still living in your home country;
- being persecuted; and
- unable to leave or move away from your home country.
- This visa is a permanent visa (it does not expire).
- It allows you to live, work and study in Australia.
- In addition people who hold this visa can propose or sponsor family members for permanent residency in Australia.
- To be eligible for the Global Special Humanitarian Programme Visa (Subclass 202) you must show that you are:
- outside Australia;
- living outside your home country;
- subject to a large degree of discrimination in your home country which amounts to a serious breach of your human rights; and
- proposed by a person or organisation in Australia.
- This visa does not expire. It is a permanent visa.
- It allows you to live, work and study in Australia.
- In addition people who hold this visa can propose or sponsor family members for permanent residency in Australia.
