- A visa is a permission given to a foreign person allowing them to travel or stay in Australia.
- Visas can be either permanent or temporary.
- A permanent visa permits the holder to stay in Australia indefinitely (no expiry date).
- A temporary visa allows the person to remain in Australia for a certain period of time.
