  • It is a legal requirement that registered vehicles display number plates on the front and back of their vehicle. Motorcycles and trailers need only one number plate attached to the back of the vehicle.
  • The plates displayed on the vehicle must match the details shown on its registration.
  • If your vehicle does not correctly display the number plates it may be considered unregistered.
  • If you use a bike rack and it blocks the visibility of your rear number plate you must fit a special auxiliary number plate. An auxiliary plate shows the same number plate combination as your vehicle’s number plate.
  • If your registration is cancelled for any reason it becomes an offence to keep the number plates. If you want to keep the plates you will need to reserve them at a registry.
