  • The Veterans and Veterans’ Families Counselling Service (VVCS) is available to veterans, their partners and dependent children. It is free and confidential and it provides the following services:
    • counselling for individuals, couples and families;
    • crisis telephone counselling after work hours via the veterans line;
    • mental health groups for those suffering from depression, anxiety, anger and sleep disturbance;
    • psycho-educational programs;
    • health programs for promoting general health;
    • alcohol reduction programs; and
    • educational self-help resources.
  • Counselling can improve your personal health and emotional wellbeing and can support your personal relationships. For example it can help with:
    • stresses and traumas;
    • crises at work or at home;
    • relationship and family issues;
    • substance abuse; and
    • other physical or emotional problems.
  • If you are a veteran or the family member of a veteran and you feel you would like some further support you can contact VVCS for a referrals. Referrals may be made to specialist services and treatment programs including any admission to a treatment facility or emergency accommodation centre.
  • You can call 1800 011 046 for the VVCS Centre during business hours or after-hours by calling the veterans line for crisis counselling.
