- Subsidised loan assistance and insurance benefits are available to eligible current and former members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
- Loans of up to $25,000 can be provided by the Defence Service Homes (DSH) scheme. Such a loan is repayable over 25 years and can be accessed by ex-service men and women as well as their partners and dependents. A home support loan of up to $10,000 is also available to assist with the cost of home maintenance and modifications.
- The Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme (DHOAS) may be available to current and former ADF personnel who have served within the preceding 2 years, have completed a qualifying service period and accrued a service credit.
- Finally the Defence Service Homes Insurance Scheme (DSHIS) is geared around the provision of home and contents insurance people entitled under the Veterans’ Entitlement Act 1986 (VEA) regardless of whether they have a DSH or DHOAS loan.
