6. Partner Visa Documents

- For a long term visit to Australia such as a Partner visa (Offshore Subclass 309) you will need some or all of the following documents to support your application:
- a marriage certificate including certified translations if it is not in English;
- two statutory declarations from friends or relatives stating their knowledge of your relationship and that it is genuine;
- statutory declarations from the applicant and the sponsor each outlining a history of your relationship as well as providing proof of joint financial and domestic arrangements;
- adequate proof that you and your sponsor have a financial commitment to each other such as joint bills or accounts;
- evidence of cohabitation on a permanent basis;
- photographic evidence that you are a couple and that you present yourselves to the community as a couple. Photos may include wedding photos or photos from family celebrations or travels together;
- a certified copy of the sponsor’s:
- passport;
- birth certificate;
- Australian citizenship certificate; or
- permanent residence visa;
- a police clearance certificate from your home country or any other country you have spent substantial time in;
- details of any dependent children if applicable; and
- a cover letter listing your reasons for making the application and the documents that are being attached.
You will need to undergo a medical check at the designated medical centre once the application is made. Ensure that you do not open the sealed envelope from the doctor.
