  • You must not fly an aircraft unless it is fitted with safety instruments and emergency equipment. Specifically you must ensure your craft is fitted with an approved emergency locator transmitter that is in working order.
  • If you are operating an aircraft you must assign a crew member who is competent in the use of emergency and lifesaving equipment carried in the aircraft to every flight.
  • As the operator you must also instruct members of your crew regarding 'abandon ship’ procedures.
  • Flight attendants must ensure that passengers are familiar with the location of emergency exits and emergency equipment such as flotation devices.
  • Aircraft crew and passengers must wear safety belts or harnesses during the flight at specified times.
