4. Domestic Aviation Law

- Domestic aviation law includes legislation (written law) made by the Commonwealth parliament and to a lesser extent the parliaments of each state and territory.
- Commonwealth law has put a number of safeguards in place in an attempt to prevent unlawful interference with aviation. These include:
- approved transport security programs in which airports must specify how they will manage security for their operations;
- security measures such as passenger and baggage screening, on-board protections, and offences in regard to weapons and prohibited items;
- the use of security inspectors, Australian Federal Police officers, airport security guards and screening officers; and
- penalties for illegal aviation activity such as infringement notices, enforcement orders and injunctions.
