    7. Modifications to Aircraft
  • An Australian aircraft must not be modified or repaired unless the design of the modification or repair has been approved. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is authorised to approve changes in the design of an aircraft or its engine or propeller.
  • If CASA considers an unsafe condition exists in relation to your aircraft, engine or propeller it may ask that you provide design plans to rectify any potentially unsafe condition. You are legally obliged to comply with such a request from CASA.
  • If you intend to engage in any stage of the design or maintenance of your aircraft you will need to apply to CASA for a certificate of approval.
