  • Suitable duties’ refers to a system whereby an injured employee is given a different set of tasks designed specifically for them to facilitate a faster return to work.
  • The benefits of having a suitable duties program is that it allows the employee to return to work thereby increasing their fitness and boosting morale while at the same time reducing the days lost due to injury and the overall cost of a claim.
  • The employer must be careful to ensure the duties are suitable for the employee’s restricted capabilities in that they allow for the employee to recover while not risking further injury or making the current injury worse.
