6. RTW Co-ordinator Obligations

- Once the injury management process is in place the employer is required to ensure that the designated return to work (RTW) co-ordinator for the workplace:
- contacts the injured employee and offers any available assistance;
- makes an initial determination on whether rehabilitation is necessary or possible;
- arranges for a professional assessment of the employee’s needs and capabilities;
- consults with the employee to develop an individual RTW plan;
- oversees and monitors the employee’s return to work and suitable duties in consultation with the employee and medical practitioners where necessary; and
- keeps records of the program as required.
