  • The law will only interfere with sexual relationships involving a person with a disability when the person does not consent or in certain circumstances where there is the potential for exploitation.
  • Anyone is free to marry so long as they are old enough and they understand the nature and the effect of the marriage ceremony.
  • People with a disability are also able to enter into a de facto relationship and have the same rights and responsibilities as anyone else in a similar relationship.
  • A person with a disability has the right to choose whether to use contraception.
  • A person with a disability is also required to care for and protect their children the same as all other parents. Should they be involved with government departments regarding the care and protection of their children they will treated as all other parents.
