  • Where goods are valued at or below $1,000.00 they will be exempt from customs duty and taxes.
  • This does not apply to alcohol and tobacco.
  • No paperwork is generally required for most low value goods brought into Australia through the postal system.
  • Goods being delivered by air or sea freight will require a Self-Assessed Clearance (SAC) declaration. This is usually done by the freight handler on your behalf.
  • An SAC declaration can only be made electronically through the Integrated Cargo System (ICS). If you need to make your own SAC declaration you will need to go through a licensed Customs broker or SAC service provider.
