- The Certain Inputs to Manufacture Program allows duty-free importation of certain goods used in manufacture. It aims to reduce input costs associated with particular manufacturing processes and improve the competitiveness of Australian industry.
- Eligible goods include:
- metal materials and goods used in the packaging of food; and
- raw materials and intermediate goods (such as chemicals, plastics and paper goods).
- This concession must be applied for by the end user or on their behalf before the materials are imported.
- The materials to be imported must have a substantial and demonstrable performance advantage over materials available locally.
- If a concession is granted it usually remains in operation for 2 years from the date when the application was lodged.
- Applications are handled by AusIndustry: www.business.gov.au. An experienced customs lawyer can assist you in making your application. You can look for one near you in our free Find a Lawyer directory.
