· In certain circumstances compensation may be payable when damage or injury has been caused by an animal.
· Legal proceedings in this instance are generally brought against the owner of the animal claiming that they have been negligent in supervising their animal.
· By law all dogs are classified as companion animals. In some circumstances the owners of companion animals may be liable even when they were not negligent.
· Alternatively where an animal has been the victim of an accident it may be possible for their owner to seek compensation. You should seek a lawyer’s advice as to the likely amount you can recover and the estimated costs of doing so.
