    4. Applying to Participate
  • If you want your evidence to be considered by the commission in making their findings and recommendations then you must participate in a hearing.
  • There will be public notices that provide information about:
    • any hearing in which members of the community can participate; and
    • the specific issue being dealt with.
  • The notices will invite people and organisations who feel they have a significant personal interest in the subject matter of the public hearing to apply in writing for permission to appear. This means that they can apply to be heard during the inquiry.
    • Your application will need to include a short written submission about how you are involved and why you should be permitted to appear before the commission.

The inquiry team will consider your application and decide whether your interest falls within the terms of reference. If it does then you will be granted leave (permission) to appear.
