4. Unlawful Behaviour

- Public order offences make it illegal to do certain things or behave in a certain way in a public place.
- Different acts or behaviour are covered by this category of offence. These may include:
- swearing;
- using offensive or threatening language;
- being drunk in a public place;
- making graffiti;
- loitering;
- begging;
- exposing your genitals (private parts);
- disorderly conduct;
- lighting fires or setting off fireworks without a permit;
- unlawfully selling drugs;
- spitting; or
- littering.
- Society considers this type of behaviour disruptive, unreasonable and unacceptable. It is sometimes referred to as ‘anti-social behaviour’.
