  • To prove illegal drug use the police must prove that the substance taken by the defendant was a prohibited drug.
  • Most convictions for using a prohibited drug rely on the person making an admission at the time of arrest that they used an illegal drug.
  • It is an offence to administer drugs to another person such as injecting them with a prohibited substance.
