  • Homicide means doing an act that results in the death of another person.
  • Not all homicides constitute a crime. Certain homicide may be justified, excused or authorized by law. For example combat soldiers in war time or carrying out the death penalty in overseas jurisdictions that still allow capital punishment.
  • Murder and manslaughter are forms of criminal homicide. That means homicide which is not excused, justified or authorized by law. It is the unjustified or unlawful killing of another person.
