- If an unforeseen event does occur while you are travelling you should check your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for advice on how your insurer requires the matter to be handled.
- In some cases your insurer will advise you to make no admission of liability. That means you should not claim responsibility for anything happening.
- The PDS will also outline the documentation you may need before you can lodge a complaint such as a police report, photographs or witness statements.
- When processing the claim your insurance providers need to keep you updated on the progress of your claim at least every ten days.
- It is recommended that if your claim has not been decided within two weeks you should lodge a dispute through the insurer's internal dispute resolution process.
