I2. How a Lawyer Can Helpf you are unsure about what type of travel insurance you should purchase to get the best coverage there are independent online advice services that can clarify your concerns. These include CHOICE and the Department of Fair Trading in your state or territory.

You are entering into a legal contract when you purchase travel insurance. A lawyer will be able to answer any questions you might have about the information in your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and explain what is covered by the travel insurance you are seeking to purchase.

In some circumstances you may be refused travel insurance. A lawyer will be able to advise whether the refusal was lawful and the options that are available to you. There are exemptions for insurance companies under the federal anti-discrimination law however these are only applicable when the insurer has complied with all the requirements. A lawyer will be able to evaluate whether the requirements have been met.

In the event that you need to make a claim on your travel insurance a lawyer will be able to advise you on the options available to you.
