    7. Working together
  • As with any business, problems and difficulties will arise from time to time. The success of a franchise business will often rely heavily on the ability of the franchisee and franchisor to work together to solve problems as they arise.
  • Before entering into a franchise agreement you should consider whether this close relationship with your specific franchisee or franchisor is an appropriate fit.
  • Once in business it is important to recognise the expertise of the franchisor and to draw on their assistance when necessary. The franchisor has extensive experience with the business and can be an invaluable source of information particularly about:
  • setting up;
  • operating; and
  • trouble-shooting.
  • Failing to keep communication channels open can place both the franchisee and franchisor in a vulnerable position if things go wrong.
  • If you are experiencing a problem in your franchise business don’t wait until it spirals out of control. Try to get guidance from the franchisor as early as possible. That way problems can often be avoided before they arise.
