Can I return to work despite no medical clearance?

I want to return to full work duties early even though I have not been completely cleared by my medical practitioner. Will my employer allow me to do this?

  • It depends on the employer.
  • In some states and territories such as Victoria an employee may be allowed to return to work on the same duties as they were prior to their injury without medical clearance. It remains best practice to obtain the medical clearance beforehand.
  • Your employer may or may not wish to take the risk.
