- Legal aid can generally assist in the following areas of law:
- criminal law;
- family law;
- civil justice:
- Centrelink issues/social security;
- debt;
- discrimination and sexual harassment;
- guardianship and administration;
- immigration;
- infringements;
- mental health;
- tenancy; and
- victims of crime.
- Legal Aid cannot assist with the following subject matters:
- business and commercial matters;
- building, buying and selling houses and land;
- defamation;
- intellectual property;
- pay disputes;
- work injuries; and
- wills and deceased estates.
