  • Legal aid can generally assist in the following areas of law:
    • criminal law;
    • family law;
    • civil justice:
      • Centrelink issues/social security;
      • debt;
      • discrimination and sexual harassment;
      • guardianship and administration;
      • immigration;
      • infringements;
      • mental health;
      • tenancy; and
      • victims of crime.
  • Legal Aid cannot assist with the following subject matters:
  • business and commercial matters;
  • building, buying and selling houses and land;
  • defamation;
  • intellectual property;
  • pay disputes;
  • work injuries; and
  • wills and deceased estates.
