    7. Voluntary Treatment Orders
  • If you are experiencing significant mental illness, cannot cope on your own or are in distress then you can admit yourself into hospital.
  • Your treating team will formulate a treatment plan with you to ensure you can begin the recovery process.
  • Remember that you have the right to speak up if you do not agree with something in your treatment plan. Often your mental illness will make you feel like you cannot or should not speak up.
  • If you do not feel comfortable raising your concerns with your doctors consider speaking to a lawyer, social worker or family member and involve them in future discussions with your treating team. They can negotiate with the medical or psychiatric team on your behalf.
