ngaging in misleading or deceptive conduct is not a criminal offence. However a court may impose one or more of the following remedies:
- an award of damages means that the court awards compensation in the form of a monetary sum to be paid by the defendant. A damages award usually represents compensation for loss but may in some cases be increased as a punishment;
- an injunction is an order of the court instructing a person to do or more usually to refrain from doing a certain act; or
- orders such as fines and alternative sanctions.
