- Each council has different policies regarding tree removal and tree pruning.
- Many councils protect trees over a certain size. This means you cannot prune or remove these trees without getting council approval.
- Generally you do not need your neighbour’s approval to prune any tree branches overhanging your property. Before you decide to take any action regarding trees overhanging your property you should check your council’s policies. Significant fines can be imposed for breaching controls regulating trees.
