    17. Belongings Left Behind
  • Before leaving tenants should ensure that they have taken all belongings with them.
  • Personal belongings include such things as:
    • photographs;
    • correspondence;
    • official documents;
    • computers;
    • cameras; or
    • other electronic devices.
  • If any belongings are left behind a tenant can attempt to make arrangements with the landlord to pick them up.
    • A landlord can't keep any personal belongings which a tenant has left behind either for their personal use or as 'security' for any unpaid rent.
    • If the landlord attempts to do so a tenant may apply to the relevant tribunal for compensation.
