I am an overseas lawyer practising foreign law in Australia. Will my name appear on a register?
- Most states and territories require overseas lawyers practising foreign law in Australia to register with the law society or institute of that state or territory.
- Once registration has been accepted your name will be placed on the register of foreign lawyers in that state or territory.
- You must make an application for each state and territory you intend to undertake legal work in. The rules and regulations for practice vary between the states and territories.
