What kind of lawyer will I be assigned by Legal Aid?

• If you are eligible for Legal Aid your lawyer may be a Legal Aid lawyer or a private lawyer who is registered with Legal Aid and is available and willing to help you in your matter.  
• If you want to use a private lawyer who is registered with Legal Aid you can nominate them as your preferred lawyer in your application. 
• Legal Aid will do its best to accommodate your request. However this is not guaranteed and you may receive a different registered private lawyer or a Legal Aid lawyer.
• You can use our Phone a Lawyer service to request a preliminary legal consultation with a private lawyer who may agree to represent you.
