Are travel agents required to comply with Australian Consumer Law?
- All Australian businesses are required to comply with Australian Consumer Law.
- This includes travel agents.
- This means that they must not:
- act unconscionably (immorally);
- make false or misleading representations (statements) to travellers; or
- mislead or deceive travellers.
- They must also ensure that:
- all marketing and promotional material is true and correct;
- they inform travellers about changes or increases in costs as soon as possible; and
- quote accurate prices including clearly identifying any surcharges that may be payable.
