What kind of steps can an airline take to demonstrate that they have taken measures to prevent personal injuries to passengers?

I was travelling in a light aircraft and as it was passing through turbulence no warnings were announced and a few passengers who were standing in the aisle fell down. I am interested to know what measures an airline can take to ensure passenger safety.

There are a number of things that an airline can do to assist in keeping their passengers safe including:

  • warning passengers to fasten their seatbelts;
  • checking passenger seatbelts to ensure they are fastened properly;
  • advising passengers to correctly stow on-board luggage; and
  • checking that overhead lockers are correctly packed and closed.
