I've just been fined for speeding and I'm going to get 3 demerit points assigned to me. I need to show my driving record to my employers every 6 months. When will the points show up on my record?

- Once you pay the fine to your state or territory revenue office the road transport authority will be notified and the demerit points will be added to your record.
- If you do not pay your fine they will automatically appear on your record on the final date that payment should have been made.
- The need to pay the fine will not go away. In NSW the State Debt Recovery Office can suspend your licence for failure to pay fines.
- If you appeal the penalty in court and are unsuccessful the court will advise the road transport authority to add the demerit points to your record.
