I am trying to find my deceased grandfather’s super which was lost when he changed his job and address 15 years ago. What can I do?

- It is not uncommon to lose track of a super account. Many people forget to update the details they have registered with a super fund when they change their jobs, address or contact details.
- A super fund is reported to Australian Tax Office (ATO) as lost if:
- the super fund cannot contact the member; or
- the fund has been inactive with no contributions for a period of five years.
- The ATO maintains a ‘Lost Members Register’ (LMR) that lists details of lost members reported by a super fund. You can use a service called SuperSeeker to find the lost super. You can access it from this link https://www.ato.gov.au/Calculators-and-tools/Check-your-super/or complete the searching for lost super (NAT 2476) form available from https://www.ato.gov.au/Forms/Searching-for-lost-super/.
- You will need to provide the following details:
- name;
- date of birth; and
- tax file number.
- You may also contact the ATO on 13 28 65 to discuss your situation.
