I want to appeal the commissioner’s decision. I am aware that I can either approach the tribunal or the court but want to know the difference in costs for appealing. Can you explain more about this?

- The application fee for referring the matter to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal is $525.60.
- The application fee for appealing the decision in court is $991.70.
- You can apply to the tribunal or court to have the fee waived if it will cause you financial hardship.
- You should be aware that there may also be other costs involved. For example you may wish to have a lawyer represent you. You will then have to pay the legal fees of your lawyer.
- If you go to court and are unsuccessful you may also have to pay the legal fees for the commissioner of state revenue. This will depend on the court’s discretion.
