How do I apply for an extension of time to lodge an application?

My application to be enrolled as a Nurse was refused by the Queensland Nursing Council. I really want QCAT to review this decision. However I have been informed that I am outside the time limit of 28 days. I missed the deadline because I moved house and the refusal letter sent to me by the Queensland Nursing Council was sent to my old address. I informed them of my change of address so it really shouldn’t be my problem!

  • You can still apply to have your matter reviewed by QCAT despite missing the 28 day deadline.
  • To do this you need to fill in an extension of time form available on the tribunal website.
  • The form will ask you for reasons why you need an extension of time. Explain to them what happened with your change of address.
  • The tribunal can be flexible about this sort of issue. They will consider how long outside the time period you have applied, the reasons why and the effects it will have on both parties to either allow or refuse the time extension.
