Where can I get more information about the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and possibly getting a lawyer?

I have heard about this royal commission. My brother and I have stories to tell about when we were growing up. I would like to know how to get more information about this commission and the process. We are thinking about getting a lawyer but want to find out if this is necessary or not.

  • To find out information about this royal commission you can go directly to the official website at http://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au.
  • You have a few options if you want to get some legal advice.
    • There is an organisation called ‘Knowmore’ that has been established to help people who want to access this commission. This service offers free legal advice and counselling services to the community. You can find more information here http://www.knowmore.org.au.
    • You can contact a Community Legal Centre (CLC) and they may be able to give you some legal advice and clarify some of your questions. For further information please see our Community Legal Centres topic.
    • You may also wish to speak to a private lawyer.
