What are practice directions at a commission?

I am planning to tell my story at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses into Child Sexual Abuse. I have been told to read the practice directions to find out more information. What exactly is a practice direction?

  • Practice directions outline the procedures and processes for the commission or inquiry.
    • Each inquiry will have its own practice directions.
    • Practice directions can be accessed on the commission’s web site.
  • Witnesses and the public can read the practice directions to get a better understanding of how the inquiry will be run.
