How can I make a complaint against my lawyer?

I used a Queensland lawyer to act as an intermediary for an overseas lawyer I engaged to undertake a property transaction in the USA. The US property transaction was fine however I am upset with the work was done by my Queensland lawyer. He charged me an excessive amount of money for his limited work and did not act professionally. I want to make a complaint. How can I do this?

  • Given your dispute is with a lawyer here in Australia and practising in Queensland you should contact the Queensland Law Society: http://www.qls.com.au.
  • You should make your complaint in writing and include as many details as possible to ensure that the complaint can be properly investigated. You should also include copies of any documents that are relevant to your complaint.
