The lawyer I requested through Legal Aid sent me a bill recently on their letterhead. I thought Legal Aid was covering the costs of this lawyer?
Lawyer Answers (1): Answers from lawyers are general preliminary responses. They are not formal legal advice and cannot taken account of all your circumstances. They do not create a lawyer–client relationship.

- If your grant of legal assistance covers all your legal costs then private Legal Aid lawyers are not allowed to ask you to pay their invoices. Lawyers are paid directly by Legal Aid.
- If you have been asked to pay an invoice you should contact Legal Aid immediately.
