I am worried that I may be declared bankrupt soon. My carpet cleaning business is running at a loss and I am in debt up to my eyeballs. I do not think that I need a lawyer yet but I want to know a little bit about what happens so I can be prepared and so I understand better what may happen.
Lawyer Answers (1): Answers from lawyers are general preliminary responses. They are not formal legal advice and cannot taken account of all your circumstances. They do not create a lawyer–client relationship.

- Community Legal Centres can help you with this.
- Most CLCs will have fact sheets and guides relating to different areas of law and they will be happy to give them to you. You can also go to a walk-in advice session and have a chat with a lawyer.
- The self-representation service usually covers bankruptcy. You should speak to someone at your nearest CLC to find out more about this service.
- CLCs are very approachable so if you have a question just call and ask.
