Can I choose my attendant carer?

I really want to be able to choose who looks after me for attendant care. Will I be forced to have an attendant carer chosen by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) or can I choose my own carer?

  • You or your family are able to choose who you would prefer to be your attendant carer and you are responsible for making the necessary arrangements.
  • The DVA only has responsibility for determining the amount you are entitled to for attendant care services.
