What effect do the new laws have on an application that is already being processed?

I arrived illegally in Australia and made an application for a Permanent Protection Visa. Do the new laws change my ability to apply for this?

  • Yes. If you arrived in Australia illegally without a valid visa your application for a Permanent Protection Visa will be taken to be an application for a Temporary Protection Visa.
