I need to know how long it will take to process my visa application as I need to make living arrangements in the meantime.

- The processing time will depend on what kind of visa you are applying for.
- Offshore Humanitarian Visas:
- The majority of applications will be processed within 12 months.
- However 'split family' applications may take several years (visa applications for immediate family members).
- Onshore Protection Visas:
- If you are not in detention onshore protection visa applications are generally finalised within 90 days of lodgement.
- If you are in detention it may only take 42 days but the timeframe is up to 90 days.
