Do we need to apply for a new licence to hold an event that was postponed?

Our club applied for a liquor licence for its end of season break-up. This was approved. There was a big thunderstorm on the night it was planned to we had to postpone it. We now want to re-schedule it in two weeks time. Do we need to get another licence?

  • No. In most states and territories the laws specify that if you have been granted a liquor licence for a function that the licence is still valid if it gets postponed.
  • It is a good idea to read the terms of your licence so you clearly understand what the conditions are if you need to reschedule an event.
  • As a matter of courtesy you should also inform your local police station that you are holding the function on a new date.
