We are planning to visit Sydney over the summer holidays. We have heard on the news that the liquor laws have changed. We are planning to go to nightclubs and restaurants while we are there. Can we still drink alcohol?

- There are some new laws in Sydney that impact when and where you can drink alcohol.
- There are a lot of new amendments that impact both patrons and licensees.
- The main changes are that there are now:
- 1.30am lockouts;
- 3am last drinks laws; and
- a ban on the sale of take-away alcohol after 10pm.
- These laws apply to ‘the CBD entertainment precinct. This area includes the CBD, Kings Cross, Darlinghurst, Surry Hills and the Rocks.
- For more information about these changes you can visit the NSW government website: http://www.nsw.gov.au/newlaws.
