Am I allowed to raffle alcohol?

We are having a fundraising raffle at our local clubhouse on the weekend. A couple of the hampers have bottles of wine in them. Can we raffle these hampers if there is wine in them as well as food?

  • Yes but there are rules about how you can do this.
  • Generally alcohol can only be raffled as a prize if its retail value is less than a certain amount and is under a certain quantity.
  • There are also rules about the amount of money that can be generated by ticket sales.
    • For example In Queensland if your ticket sales are going to be over $20, 000 then you need to apply for a special licence.
  • Different rules also apply in different states and territories so you will need to check with your local licencing authority.
